Statement for Tan-y-Foel Guest House
Ordinance grid reference:
Easting 281200. Northing 356600.
Tan-y-Foel is a part 17th century Welsh stone
country house set in a rural location within the Snowdonia
National Park.
It is accessed via a half mile tarmacadam drive
which has several deep rain gullies, we advise a cautionary
drive over them.
Ample car parking to the rear and surrounding
areas are in tarmacadam with adequate dusk till dawn lighting
and sensor lighting to car park and around.
The family owners are happy to provide assistance
for wheelchair users and persons with limited mobility, a
porterage service is available for luggage.
Service dogs are welcome. Dietry requirements
for allergies can be catered for with prior notice.
Public transport is limited, nearest main line
station is at Llandudno Junction which is 17 miles away.
Access to Main House
The house is accessed by four slate steps, each
150mm height, with iron rail to one side to outer porch. The
main inner vestibule door has a security coded door latch
set at 1270mm in height with a D handle door.
The ground floor of the main building includes
the lounge, breakfast room, dining room, ladies and gents
toilets which are not adapted for wheelchair users. There
is also a limited access door height of 1560mm to the toilets.
Low pile carpet is provided in the lounge area, all other
surfaces on the ground floor are hard surface.
Access to bedrooms is via a stairway of 15 standard
height steps with handrail to one side and solid wall to the
other side. All public areas have adequate emergency lighting
and break glass fire alarm points also appropriate fire extinguishers
along with fire equipment signs, are all in place. Emergency
way guidance signs are also fixed in the requisite public
areas and passage ways.
Bedrooms
No lifts are provided.
Four double bedrooms in the main house all with
full ensuite - bath/shower, wc and wash hand basin, TV/DVD/CD
players with remote hand sets, clock radios, direct dial telephone,
written emergency call instructions, toiletries, bath robes
and beverage trays. There are no grab rails in any bedrooms.
One bedroom is accessed via 4 standard height
steps with wooden handrail to one side, another room has a
raised bath 660mm in height, a small step has been provided
to aid assistance to enter bath and a hand rail has been fitted.
Low pile carpet to bedrooms, hard surface areas
to bathrooms.
Two external bedrooms with full ensuite - bath/shower,
wc and wash hand basin are accessed to the side and rear of
main house, one is a ground floor room, 30 meters distance
from main front entrance. Door opening to room is 900mm accessed
by step 130mm in height, small vestibule 1240mm x 1240mm,
not suitable for a wheelchair to turn. This room affords seperate
shower, step up 190mm, shower opening is 600mm, height of
shower is 1860mm, boxed bath edges are 230mm into bath, which
could be difficult for persons with limited mobility. Russian
oak flooring with bedside rugs to bedroom and hard surface
area to bathroom.
The other room is accessed via 10 stone steps
each 22mm in height with wooden handrails to both sides. Low
door entrance 1210mm into small vestibule area with 70ml step-up.
Low pile carpet to bedroom and hard surface area bathroom.
We would not recommend this room for persons with limited
mobility or for a wheelchair user.
All six bedrooms have smoke/heat detectors and
audible fire alarm warnings they also have fitted zone fire
indicators. Requisite bilingual evacuation fire exit signs
are fixed to all bedroom doors.
We provide each bed with cotton sheets, duvets
and two pillows per person.
Blankets and any feather allergies can be catered
for upon request.
